Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada
Students for Development Program
Launched in 2005, the Students for Development (SFD) program has been supporting senior-level university students (third and fourth-year undergraduates through to PhD students) to participate in internships for a minimum of three months in partner developing countries.
The 2011-2015 SFD program continues to support Canadian students' participation in internships abroad but also introduces two new pilot components, namely internships to Canada for developing country students and funding for initiatives that connect students in Canada and in developing countries. As part of the 2011-2015 program, AUCC member institutions are invited to submit a multi-year project proposal that addresses one or more of the program's three components.
Projects must be undertaken with partner organizations in one or more of the following 26 eligible countries: Bangladesh, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, China, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guyana, Honduras, India, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Ukraine, Vietnam and Zambia.
